This policy explains how I Got a Text! and Love Island Watch Party collect, use, store, and share information when you use the website, Chrome extension, Firebase backend, chat features, custom rooms, and subscription features.

Information We Collect

  • Account information, including your email address, username, Firebase user ID, and authentication state. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we do not store plaintext passwords.
  • Optional social profile information, including Instagram and TikTok handles or profile links you choose to add to your account.
  • Subscription information, including Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status, billing portal sessions, and checkout activity needed to manage paid access. Stripe processes payment card details.
  • Chat information, including your username, optional social profile links copied onto messages, message text, reactions, message score, episode identifier, Peacock playback timestamp, room or villa assignment, and timestamps for messages and sessions.
  • Custom room information, including room names, invite codes, membership records, owner status, and related room activity.
  • Extension storage information, including cached account access and temporary chat session details stored with Chrome local storage so the extension can keep chat unlocked while you watch.
  • Technical information generated by Firebase, Google Cloud, Stripe, Chrome, and browser requests, such as logs, diagnostics, security events, IP address, device or browser metadata, and timestamps.

How We Use Information

  • Create and secure accounts.
  • Provide subscriptions, billing management, and access checks.
  • Assign users to villa chat rooms and custom rooms.
  • Sync chat messages to the episode timestamp shown on Peacock.
  • Display usernames, optional social profile links, messages, reactions, and room state to eligible chat participants.
  • Moderate chat, rate limit activity, suppress low-scoring messages, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the service.
  • Maintain, improve, and operate the website, extension, Firebase backend, and Stripe integration.

What The Extension Can Access

  • The extension runs on Peacock pages so it can detect Love Island playback state and place the chat overlay on the page.
  • The extension uses Chrome storage to remember cached access and temporary chat session data.
  • The extension communicates with Firebase, Google APIs, and Cloud Functions to authenticate users, read and write chat messages, and manage subscriptions.
  • The extension does not need permission to read your browsing history outside its declared Peacock and backend service access.

How We Share Information

  • We use Firebase and Google Cloud to provide authentication, database, hosting, cloud functions, logging, and infrastructure services.
  • We use Stripe to process subscriptions, checkout, billing portal access, and payment-related webhooks.
  • Messages, usernames, optional social profile links attached to messages, reactions, and room activity are visible to other eligible users in the same villa or custom room context.
  • We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent abuse, or as part of a business transfer.
  • We do not sell personal information.

Retention

  • We keep account, subscription, room, and chat records for as long as needed to operate the service, resolve issues, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
  • Temporary chat sessions are designed to expire after a limited period.
  • Chrome local storage remains on your device until it is cleared by the extension, you sign out, or you remove or reset the extension.
  • Provider logs and billing records are retained according to Firebase, Google Cloud, Stripe, and applicable legal requirements.

Your Choices

  • You can sign out of the extension or remove the extension from Chrome.
  • You can add, update, or remove optional Instagram and TikTok links from the extension profile area. Removing links affects future messages, while older messages may keep the links copied when they were sent.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe billing portal exposed in the extension.
  • You can clear extension data through Chrome storage controls or by removing the extension.
  • You can contact us through the support contact listed on the Chrome Web Store listing to request help with account, privacy, or deletion questions.

Children

  • I Got a Text! is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the service if you are under 13.

Changes

  • We may update this policy as the website, extension, backend, or legal requirements change. The updated date on this page shows when it was last revised.
